About Philippus Van Wichel

Philip van Wichel (also Philippe van Wicchel; * baptized February 16, 1614 in Brussels, † buried July 8, 1675 ibid) was a composer, violinist and cornetto in the Spanish Netherlands. Life Philip Van Wichel began his career as a musician, as well as other members of his family, in Brussels "Musicians Guild Sint Job." From 1631 to 1637 he was a cornetto at the Church of Saint-Goriks. Thereafter, until his death, he was instrumentalist, violinist in the court orchestra in Brussels, where also appeared numerous Italian musicians.
