
Phil Wiggins was born in Washington, D.C. in 1954. His parents had moved to DC in the 40s from Titusville, Alabama. Phil spent many of his childhood summers there and credits his time spent there and his close relationship with his Grandmother as reasons for his strong connection with traditional acoustic blues.Phil began his career as a blues musician performing at the Smithsonian Folklife Fest. with Flora Molton. At that festival, Phil met and joined with Wilber'' Big Chief '' Ellis
