There are multiple artists with this name: 1) Pagan Angel was the original name of the British band Anathema. Formed in 1990 in Liverpool, UK, the band played death metal with doom metal elements. The founding formation comprised singer Darren White, guitarists Vincent Cavanagh and Daniel Cavanagh, bassist Duncan Patterson and drummer John Douglas. In November 1990 they recorded and released their first demo titled "An Iliad of Woes". In early 1991 they changed their name to Anathema and re-released their demo under this name.
