Ottavio Catalani (Enna , Sicily , ca. 1560 - 1629) was an Italian composer. He presumably took religious orders in Catania , where he also pursued his musical studies. Before 1600 he was an organist in this city. He moved to Rome , and from 1603 was Kapellmeister at the church of S. Apollinare attached to the German College, and held this position for about twenty years. There he composed according to the daily liturgical needs of the chapel he directed.
