Orphans of the Helix is an instrumental, somewhat stylized-minimalism, musical project created by Southern California native Matthew F. Smith. Matthew started creating music in 2002, but formally adopted the name Orphans of the Helix in 2008 after reading the highly-acclaimed science fiction novel series The Hyperion Cantos by Dan Simmons.
