
Orkes Irama was a musical ensemble formed through the collaboration of three prominent Indonesian musicians: Jack Lemmers (who later changed his name to Jack Lesmana), Idris Sardi, and Bing Slamet. The group emerged during the administration of President Soekarno, a period marked by government efforts to safeguard national culture from foreign—particularly Western—influences. In 1959, the Government of the Republic of Indonesia issued a directive prohibiting the broadcast of certain Western musical genres such as rock and roll
