Wellington City’s Of Blackest Oceans have been steadily gaining a name for themselves in New Zealand with their own brand of melting-pot metal, carefully combining different elements of metal and other genres, alongside progressive elements such as polyrhythms and time signature changes. 2010 brought their first EP offering, Vultures (mixed and mastered by John Mitchell at Outhouse Studios), which was received positively throughout the New Zealand metal scene and with positive reviews in national music publications.
