
The Bielefeld band OceanMachine (not to be confused with the album of the same name by Devin Townsend) has been since at least 2001. The band recorded various demos since their inception, and had record label interest, but they were often dropped. It's claimed that they were "too alternative for the metal fans, [with] too much metal for the alternative supporters". During this time, OceanMachine drifted more towards pro-rock. They had a hiatus because of work and family commitments
