About Neighborhood Bass Coalition
Often referred to simply as "NBC", this group of players in San Francisco created unique noise/music on the fly, with no rules whatsoever as to genre or instrumentation- the stranger the better. Often what resulted was noise camouflaged as various forms of electronic music. One underlying ethos of the group was that the common idea of a "band" is inadequate for making avant-garde compositions, an idea obviously carried over from several members originally involved with the Big City Orchestra collective.
