About Nasiba Omonboeva and Sirojiddin Juraev
Nasiba Omonboeva and Sirojiddin Juraev are members of The Academy of Maqâm. Nasiba Omonboeva was born in Khujand, in the Tajik part of the Ferghana valley. She sings Shashmaqam in the Ferghana style. Sirojiddin Juraev plays dutar, continuing the tradition from his father and grandfather. He first studied music in Khujand and then in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, where he now teaches at the National Conservatory. His style is close to the Ferghana style.
