About Moscow Choral Synagogue Choir
Men’s Choir of the Moscow Choral Synagogue The choir was founded in 1989 thanks to the initiative of the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee at a time of changing political circumstances in the Soviet Union during Gorbachov’s ‘perestroika’. The repertoire is a mixture of large-scale oratoria and fragments from Jewish liturgy that have not been performed in Russia for more than 70 years. The repertoire also includes Jewish and Russian folk songs and the best of world classics.
