
Moppa Elliott (* September 13, 1978 in Scranton (Pennsylvania) as Matthew Thomas Elliott) is an American double bass player and composer of Modern Creative. Elliott first learned the piano and then changed to the trombone before switching to the bass at the age of 17 and receiving lessons from Tony Marino. From 1997 to 2002 he studied biology at Oberlin College and jazz bass at Oberlin Conservatory of Music. There he recorded his first CD, Pinpoint, with Charles Evans and others.
