Mohsen Subhi (1963-2009) grew up in Ramallah, Palestine, and began studying music at the age of seven. He studied the oud (Middle Eastern plucked lute) with master oud player Hatem Al-Afghani. He travelled to the United States to pursue his studies, and took courses at the Longy School of Music and at Berklee (Boston). He worked as the music director of the "Palestinian National Music and Dance Troupe" ("El Funoun") and composed the music to their popular production 'Zaghareed'.
