Listed as one of the 10 “young drummers to watch” by the New York Times in 2009, Percussionist/composer Mike Pride (b. 1979) was raised in the Portland, Maine area. He studied composition and jazz at the University of Southern Maine and with Matt Wilson and Les Harris, Jr., & performed with legendary jazz educator David Baker. Mike moved to New York City in the year 2000 to study at the New School of Jazz & Contemporary Music and later began studying privately with the legendary percussionist/free-jazz icon, Professor, Milford Graves.
