About mess kit
Formed in Seattle during the fall of 2008 by helga hizer and Matthew Ellis, mess kit is a chamber folk trio rooted in sparse vocal and string arrangements. The spring of 2009 saw the addition of cellist Phil Hirschi, formerly of the Mahavishnu Orchestra, bringing his strengths in songwriting and arrangement. Song topics include the Pacific Northwest, bicycles, space travel, dreams, and daily living.
