
Memphis is a 2009 Broadway Musical by David Bryan (music and lyrics) and Joe DiPietro (lyrics and book) based on a concept by George W. George. Memphis begins in Memphis, Tennessee in the 1950s, where Huey Calhoun, a white department store employee, discovers his love of rock 'n roll. He discovers African American Felicia Farrell, who performs in the segregated night club owned by her brother Delray. Upon being fired from his job, Huey gets a job as a disk jockey for a local radio station.
