McDonald Observatory, a research unit of The University of Texas at Austin, is one of the world's leading centers for astronomical research, teaching, and public education and outreach. Stardate is the McDonald Observatorys science radio program and podcast. It began as a telephone message service and broadcast as a daily radio program "Have You Seen the Stars Tonight?". With a grant from the National Science Foundation, it began national distribution in 1978 as StarDate.
