Mayhew the Traitor was a 3-piece folk-rock/alt-country band from Macomb, Illinois, United States. Made up of vocalist/guitarist Matthew Hobler, bassist/backing vocalist Andrew Menschel, and drummer JW Robb; the band released their only album 'Deathwish' in 2008. The release received critical acclaim from the independent press, with commentators praising the haunting melodies and rich songwriting, with Jared Grabb saying "Deathwish is the sad and painful story of a modest man seeking love and salvation only to be greeted with defeat."
