About Mathias Gastritz
Mathias Gastritz (also Gastharts, Gastatz, Gastritzsch, Latin. Castricius; * around 1535; † 9. December 1596 in Amberg) was a German organist and composer of the Renaissance. Mathias Gastritz was born on the 22nd. December 1561 appointed organist of the city of Amberg and was in their service for almost 30 years. After legal disputes and personal insults, he resignedly resignedly in 1589. His students probably included the composer Andreas Raselius.
