
Masaaki Hirao (Japanese: 平尾昌晃 平尾昌章, birth name: Isamu Hirao) is a Japanese songwriter and performer, born 24 December 1937 in Chigasaki, Kanagawa, Japan. In the late 1950s he was considered to be "Japan's answer to Elvis". Under the moniker Masaaki Hirao and His All Star Wagon he released Japanese rock & roll and rockabilly, a genre now referred to as 'rokabirii', after the Japanese pronunciation of 'rockabilly'.
