Lydia Mamsie Tsosane was born in South Africa, both mother and father were singers. She started singing in church and in school choirs. Her music career started when she teamed up with a township band from Soweto, performing in jazz clubs and at national jazz festivals, galas, etc. She recorded with many well known South African artists and got her first break as a song writer when one of her songs was featured in an album called “Classically Zulu”.
