Lydia Canaan (Arabic: ليديا كنعان) is a singer-songwriter, poet, human rights activist, and United Nations delegate. Praised by Billboard magazine as having a "four-octave range and perfect pitch", she was hailed by the mass media as the first rock star of the Middle East and was the first Middle-Easterner whose music videos appeared on MTV Europe, MTV Asia, and MTV Russia. For Lydia, born and raised in a country dictated by war, music and singing were her personal salvation.
