Been born in Ribeirão Claro/PR, he worked as farmer until 19 y.o. He learned alone to play guitar (violão). In the 50s, when he lived in a pension in Rio De Janeiro, he divided one room with João Gilberto. In the following decade, already established in São Paulo, he created the historical boate Jogral, in the São Luís Avenue. Chico Buarque, Gilberto Gil, Paulo Vanzolini, Jorge Ben and Noite ILustrada were some of the costumers. His best knowed composition is "Maria
