Luis Arcaraz (Luis Arcaráz Torrás, Mexico City, Mexico, December 5, 1905 - December 15, 1963 San Luis Potosí, Mexico) was a Mexican composer and bandleader. He made his musical debut in Tampico in 1928. Was awarded Mexico's Gold Record award in 1951 for 'Quinto Patio'. He became a noted composer of film music in his native country. Luis Arcaráz led the most popular orchestra in Mexico during the 1940s and 1950s. Shying away from Latin rhythms, his playlist consisted mainly of American and Mexican pop favorites.
