About Luigi Braccini

Luigi (or Roberto) Braccini (c. 1755, Florence - 1791, Florence) was an Italian monastic composer. In 1766 he entered the monastery of Santa Annuziata in Florence as a student, becoming a novice there in 1772 and taking holy orders in 1777. The following year he was assigned to the basilica of San Giuseppe in Bologna, where he studied with Giovanni Battista Martini. Shortly thereafter he returned to Florence as maestro di cappella at Santa Annuziata until ill health forced him to return to secular life in 1790.
