The Lonesome D String Band is basement folkie Dan Greenwood, of suburban Philadelphia. Folk music's in his genes, to an extent - his parents' first date was a Simon & Garfunkel concert (January 1967), and early on they compared Weavers records. An interest in roots music was therefore fostered early, and while he played trumpet in jazz, marching and concert bands in school, at home a steady diet of acoustic & classic rock led to explorations of his parents' records and Sunday nights listening to the Gene Shay show.
