She was born in Lake of the Woods Ontario, grew up in New York City in a musical and literary family. She was a social activist from her teens on ,spent many years in Europe ,and over the years met and performed with many legendary musicians. She plays numerous instruments, has pipes to knock your socks off,is a producer and experimental instrument builder.
