
Lisa Bielawa is a composer, multi-instrumentalist and vocalist based in New York City. Bielawa is a 2009 Rome Prize winner in Musical Composition, and she spent a year composing as a Fellow at the American Academy in Rome. She was born into a musical family in San Francisco, California, and is the daughter of composer and retired professor of music, Herbert Bielawa. She learned piano, violin, voice and composition at an early age. After graduating from Yale with a degree in Literature in 1990
