Leonore Mona Veenemans (married van Brewis) ( Witbank 16 February 1935 – near Prince Albert 17 February 1973 ) was a South African soprano who sang opera as well as light music. She is probably best remembered for her rendition of a Russian folk song that became "Liefste Madelein" in Afrikaans. Although she only released a few LPs during her short career in light music, many tracks from these records were included on compilation albums in later years, even after CDs replaced LPs in the early 90s.
