Lavender Country is a queer country group started by Patrick Haggerty in 1972. They were a groundbreaking act in country for their explicitly queer lyrics and activism. Their debut album was released in 1973. The band performed at the first-ever Seattle Pride event in 1974 and in other places around the Pacific Northwest, but they broke up in 1976. Lavender Country reunited in 2000 after being featured in an academic article focused on queer country musicians
