
Larry was born at home in Colorado in the year 1937 to Lester Franklin and Izola Ruth Steele. He had six brothers, Buddy, Fredric, Leslie, Monty, Rodney and Stanley Steele. He started playing music at the age of four and played it his whole life. He went to several different schools as the family moved a lot. He graduated from Castle Rock High School where he met and married his wife, Bobbi. Larry would play most of the dances at the small towns' town halls.
