
About Knud Vad
Knud Peder Thomas Vad (14 September 1936, died 7 September 2019) was a Danish organist and conductor. Knud Vad graduated from Sorø Academy from 1955 and was subsequently educated at the Royal Danish Academy of Music and with Anton Heiller in Vienna from 1960 to 1964. From 1964 to 2006 he was employed as organist at Sorø Klosterkirke and in 1969 established Sorø International Music Festival. In 1975, Vad began playing works by Johann Sebastian Bach, which henceforth became a tradition every five years.
