Kat May (Katia Mayen) is a singer-songwriter who melds the melancholy moods of Scandinavia with the urban textures of London and the literary song-writing of her native France. In her first EP, “The Trees of Regents Park,” she seeks new energy and ideas in contrasts, mixing the warmth of a piano and cello with the grit of a rhythm guitar and drums. Nature infuses the songs, both as a source of nurturing as well as the stage of cruel reality, but the focus remains the human experience.
