
Juan París (born Barcelona c.1759 – died Santiago de Cuba, 10 July 1845) was a Catalan-born priest, choirmaster and composer who became one of the central figures of sacred music in colonial Cuba. After the death of Esteban Salas, París was appointed maestro de capilla of the Cathedral of Santiago de Cuba (beginning his long tenure in the early 1800s) and over the next four decades transformed the cathedral’s musical life—organising its library
