Juan Martínez de Risco (fl. late 16th – d. Jaén, Jan 1637) (also found as Juan de Riscos, Juan Martínez Risco or Juan Martín de Riscos) was a Spanish Golden-Age chapelmaster whose career traces the main Andalusian centres of cathedral polyphony. Born in Cabeza del Buey in the diocese of Córdoba, he first appears as maestro de capilla of the colegiata of Antequera in 1587, still only a sub-deacon. He competed—unsuccessfully but with clear prestige—for important posts at Málaga (1586) and Granada (1592)
