
Josh Sithole was a self-taught guitarist from South Africa who began busking with the Kwela Kids in 1959 and started his solo career in 1978. He became popular during the eighties, playing to audiences in Durban and Cape Town. Sithole with his brother Robert, a pennywhistler, was immortalized in the painting 'Penny Whistlers' by Vladimir Tretchikoff. Josh Sithole passed away at his Gugulethu home on 20 June 1999.
