Jonny Kates is an ambient musician and sound artist based in St. Albans, England. His music involves drone based soundscapes that make use of both artificial sounds and treated guitar. Kates's first release 'Groombridge' (2012) is a concise yet intricately crafted collection of progressive ambient tracks that evolve in to a delightful half an hour of self-released music. His work is inspired by the likes of genre giants Tim Hecker and Loscil as well as drawing from more organic outfits such as Rameses III.
