John Jennings (born John Edward Jennings in 22 November 1953; died 16 October 2015) was an American musician: a guitarist, multi-instrumentalist, and music producer. He is most remembered for producing eight albums for Mary Chapin Carpenter. Jennings was an early member of American heavy metal band Pentagram as part of their dual-guitar "Mark II" line-up. He left citing a lack of interest in heavy music. He went on to collaborate with Mary Chapin Carpenter during the 1980s and into the 1990s as her primary guitarist.
