
John Hoskins (English lutenist/composer; fl. c. 1600–1620) was an English lutenist-composer whose historical footprint is unusually “continental”: he is attested as a composer within the so-called Königsberg lute manuscript (compiled c. 1600–1620, in French tablature), a cosmopolitan source associated with Königsberg (now Kaliningrad) that preserves repertory drawn from across northern and central Europe.
