About Johann Praetorius
Johann Praetorius (born November 25, 1595 in Hamburg; died July 25, 1660 there) was a composer and organist. Johann was a student of his father Hieronymus Praetorius and, like his brother Jacob, Jan Pieterszoon Sweelincks. From 1611 he was organist and church clerk at the St. Nikolai Church in Hamburg. In 1619 he married Anna Sperling, the daughter of the rector of the Johanneum , with whom he had two children: Hieronymus (* around 1620) and Elisabeth (* around 1622).
