João de Badajoz (or João de Badajós) (fl. 1523/1558) was a Portuguese musician and composer of the Renaissance. There are few biographical data about João de Badajoz. The first reference to the musician can be found in Gil Vicente 's "Auto de Inês Pereira" (1523) ; is a typical mention that this Portuguese playwright often made to well-known personalities at the court: "We spoke to Badajoz / musician, discreet, single, / this one was the real one / but he released us from the nut".
