In 1996 Jerôme was inspired by an impressive concert by Yngwie Malmsteen. During that period he was playing with various bands, of which 'Anthropoid' and 'The Hype'. From 1999 to 2001 he mainly toured the club circuit with the band called 'The Open'. Initially Jerôme was a student at the academy of music in Alkmaar starting in 1999
