
Jean Parker Shepherd (1921 – 1999) was an American storyteller. Shepherd is best known to modern audiences for the 1983 film "A Christmas Story," based on his semi-autobiographical novel "In God We Trust; All Others Pay Cash." Shepherd provided the narration for the film, and appeared in the scene where the lead character meets the department store Santa.
