About Jan Belle
Jan Belle (active from about 1545 to 1566) was a Franco-Flemish composer, choir director and music theorist of the Renaissance. Jan Belle has not yet been able to determine the dates of birth and death. He only appears through his musical-professional activity with supporting documents. This begins with his work as a master of the choir boys (magister duodenarum) at the Holy Cross Church (Sainte Croix) in Liège in 1546 and 1547; here he was called "de Lovanio.
