Her musical style blends genres, drawing from jazz, the American singer-songwriter tradition, and Norwegian folk. Her influences include Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, Ella Fitzgerald, Antônio Carlos Jobim, and Melody Gardot. Saga studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston. After her studies, she lived in New York, Paris, and Los Angeles before returning to Oslo.
