
1951, Blackpool, England Born to a Polish mother and an English father, Ilona Sekacz played the violin, was a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain, and studied at the University of Birmingham. After several false starts (including being the office junior that the British Film Institute), Sekacz finally began her career in music in repertory theatre, eventually writing for the Royal Shakespeare Company and the National Theatre in London.
