About Ilia Trilling
Ilia Trilling (or Ilya Trilling) (1895–1947) was a German-born Yiddish theatrical producer and composer of Yiddish theatrical works. Trilling was born in 1895 in Elberfeld (now Wuppertal). He was active in Poland, Ukraine, and the United States throughout the 1920s. He was able to emigrate with his family to the U.S. by ovtaining a passport from the Russian authorities solely for "Ilya Trilling", and then getting a friend to change the word Ilya to "familya", meaning family.
