Holy Mackerel was a British 1970s rock band from Kent that formed from the ashes of UK psych legends Jason Crest plus members of cult rockers Samuel Prody and Orang Utan. The quintet coalesced in 1972, and having honed their material in the North of England, they became an immediate success on the live circuit and were soon offered the chance to make an LP. Issued at the end of the year, it drew on prog, country, pop and rock influences but failed to connect commercially though it is recognized as a lost classic today.
