
About Hisao Ito
Ito Hisao, born Shisan-o in 1910 in Motomiya-cho, came from a politically active family. Initially aspiring to be a pianist, he moved to Tokyo, enrolling at the Tokyo University of Agriculture to appease his family while secretly studying music. Ito debuted as a singer in 1932, adopting various stage names before settling on Ito Hisao. His baritone voice gained popularity with wartime songs during the 1930s and 1940s, making him a prominent figure in Japanese music.
