About His Imperial Majesty
HiM was born in the mid 1990s as the solo recording project of Doug Scharin, a talented drummer and multi-instrumentalist. Scharin named the project HiM in deference to His Imperial Majesty, Haile Selassie, the Ethiopian emperor and spiritual leader of Rastafarianism. Jamaican music and dub sounds influence the HiM sound to this day. Scharin has been a part of other musical groups including Rex, Codeine, June of '44, and Out In Worship. Over time
